We just did a pilgrimage from Adelaide to Sevenhill Jesuit Retreat Centre to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the visions of St Margaret Mary Alacoque in the town of Paray Le Monial, France. She, together with Claude Colombière SJ, ignited the Devotion to the Sacred Heart in the 17th century which still has life today worldwide. We walked 50 km over three days reflecting on “the Way of the Heart” – the renewed “compass for living” instigated by Pope Francis which is based on the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius and has given a new life to the devotion for those wanting deep prayer to fuel their lives. Its focus is deep friendship with Jesus.
